What are kids losing in a world ruled by social media?

Discover how social media is shaping your child’s development – and what you can do to protect their future.

We’re excited to invite parents to an upcoming Parent Evening hosted by Crimson Age School, featuring a powerful talk by Malindi MacLean, CEO of Outward Bound and co-founder of B416, a national campaign advocating for a ban on social media for under-16s in New Zealand.

Malindi will explore how excessive screen time and social media are affecting our children’s development and what we can do to respond.

Meet your speaker: Malindi MacLean

Malindi MacLean

Malindi MacLean is the first woman to lead Outward Bound New Zealand in its 60-year history — a role she stepped into while seven months pregnant. A former professional cyclist turned transformative leader, Malindi brings a unique perspective to youth development and resilience.

She is also the co-founder of B416, a national advocacy group calling for a ban on social media for under-16s in New Zealand. Remarkably, Malindi has never used social media herself, a personal stance that fuels her commitment to change.

With deep insights and compelling data, Malindi speaks passionately about the impact of digital culture on young people — offering a call to action for parents, educators, and policymakers alike.
